Oral Function: Assessment and Comprehensive Care for the Pre-Crawling Infant

Workshop Summary:
This two-day intensive workshop is designed for health professionals involved in the care of the pre-crawling infant. The course is designed to enhance the care provider’s understanding, assessment and management of oral function issues as they impact infant feeding and development. We will have case studies, hands-on learning opportunities, live dyads, discussion time, and more. Melissa and Michelle will help you level-up your assessment and clinical care techniques when it comes to supporting babies coping with compromised oral function and complex feeding challenges.
Who should attend?
Any provider that wishes to become a more skilled clinician when working with pre-crawling infants! Body workers, lactation consultants, pediatricians, physical/occupational therapists, nurses, registered dieticians, and any care team member working with pre-crawling infants should consider attending. IBLCE continuing education credits will be applied for.
Presenters’ bios:
Melissa Cole MS, IBCLC is a board-certified lactation consultant, neonatal oral-motor assessment professional and clinical herbalist in private practice. Melissa is passionate about providing comprehensive, holistic lactation support and improving the level of clinical lactation skills for health professionals. She enjoys researching and writing, especially on topics such tongue tie and botanical medicine.
Michelle Emanuel, OTR/L is an Occupational therapist specializing in neurodevelopment, manual therapy and autonomic nervous system regulation for the precrawling baby. She teaches several professional classes and has developed a curriculum for making tummy time enjoyable and therapeutic for babies and families. Her expertise in oral motor has developed by assessing and treatment babies in the NICU and outpatient arenas.

Cancellation and Refund Policy – A full refund will be provided if cancellation is requested before 30 days of the event. If you need to cancel your registration within 14-30 days of the event, we will refund you 50% of your registration. Refunds will not be provided if cancellation occurs 0-14 prior to the event. If there are extenuating circumstances, please contact us ASAP to discuss options.
Families and Babies – We are committed to providing a conducive learning environment for all attendees. Quiet infants in arms and non-separating children are welcome. Please be respectful to other attendees and step out of the room to meet your child’s needs if noise is a concern. Most workshop locations have a separate space for parenting/milk expression needs, please ask us if you need certain accommodations.
