Latch and Oral Motor Support Testimonials

  • It only took 16 weeks and 4 days but my baby finally latched and nursed correctly. This was only 3 weeks after my first appointment. We had multiple issues & were repeatedly told that it was a feeding issue, not a breastfeeding issue. I have nursed my other 3 kids for a total of 80 months (that's over 6 years experience breastfeeding) and was a peer counselor but with this baby we were at a loss. He was born at 36 weeks, tongue and lip tied, recessed chin, odd palate, torticollis, and weak suck.

  • I wish I booked an initial consultation with Melissa much sooner! My baby has a condition called Laryngomalacia, which made our breastfeeding journey particularly confusing and exhausting. Melissa is so calming and fantastic with babies. She’s experienced with Laryngomalacia and gave us great information and activities we could implement right away to improve our baby’s oral strength. Her support and communication gives us much hope and confidence for our feeding pathway forward!

  • After visiting five other lactation specialists, we finally found Melissa at Luna Lactation. I only wish we had found her sooner! My partner and I took our six week old daughter in with a shallow latch. Melissa was able to asses her and put together a comprehensive care plan, giving us oral exercises and techniques to work with to improve her latch and help us get off the nipple shield. She also provided care for me and provided tips to up my milk supply. So grateful for Melissa!

  • I can't recommend Melissa enough. My baby didn't latch, was lazy/sleeping/losing weight, my supply was low, my panic was high. I had seen several other consultants who recommended many different things that weren't helping. And then I found Melissa. We worked with her for 2 months and I am happy to say I have what I didn't think was possible: a 100% breastfed baby. Melissa makes herself available and supports a new family through so much more than breastfeeding. Highly recommended.

  • My son was not latching; with one visit Melissa was able to facilitate a proper latch, suggest great ways for me to increase my milk supply, and allowed me to feed my son the way I had always wished to since his birth! Melissa is realistic, competent, smart and practical in her approach. She is simply wonderful!!!

  • Melissa, came to my home and provided wonderful positive reinforcement for what I was already doing right and gave me great advice on breast and bottle feeding that made the feeding experience more relaxing for me and my new baby. My baby has a complicated situation that makes it hard for her to latch on and Melissa provided easy to follow instructions and a demonstration of exercises to do with her to help her latch improve. I feel I was treated in a wonderfully respectful manner.

  • I went to Melissa after meeting with multiple LCs regarding latch issues. Melissa was like a breath of fresh air. Because of her, we are on our way to a positive and pain-free nursing experience. I never felt rushed. She took all the time needed to help and to make us feel comfortable. She is professional and responds to e-mails quickly with sound advice and words of encouragement. I would whole-heartedly recommend Melissa to anyone needing breastfeeding help
