I am
having trouble
with
breastfeeding.
How many appointments will it take to fix the
problem?
Each breastfeeding
situation is unique. How many appointments you will need really
depends on the type and complexity of issues you are dealing
with. We provide very personalized, in-depth consultations so many
families find that they are able to get the support they need in
fewer appointments. After the initial consultation, parents can
decide if and when they would like follow-up
care.

I saw
a lactation specialist after giving birth but I am
still
having
problems. How will an appointment with someone else benefit
me?
Many mothers get some breastfeeding assistance
after delivering their babies. Sometimes all it takes to help a
mother and baby get started with successful feeding is some
basic support and a few kind words. Other times, basic
breastfeeding support is just not enough. Depending on where
a mom delivered, she may not have had access to
prompt lactation support by board-certified lactation consultants,
health care providers may not have enough time or up to date
breastfeeding expertise to provide adequate care and
breastfeeding issues may not arise until the mother has been
discharged or no longer has postpartum help. Even if you have
already seen a lactation specialist, if you are still dealing with
challenges that are not resolving, then additonal support is
highly recommended! An appointment with our private
practice lactation consultant is 100% devoted to your unique
breastfeeding challenges. We work with you to either build on
to the care plan you may have started with someone else or to help
you create a new plan that better suits your needs. Every
lactation consultant has a different style and approach to
breastfeeding issues. Many families have found that working with
Luna Lactation was an excellent fit for their family, even when
other lactation specialists could not help them. Read their
testimonials here.
Just as you would "shop" around
for a doctor, midwife or other provider, I encourage you
to do the same when considering a lactation consultant.

Lactation Consultants can be found here.

What if I can't afford an
appointment? We believe that all
mothers and babies should have access to quality lactation support
regardless of income. Quality lactation support is far less
expensive than the option of not breastfeeding and it is a
priceless investment in the immediate and long term well-being of
you and your baby. Luna Lactation does provide a
professionally coded lactation visit receipt that can be submitted
for insurance reimbursement and we are willing to
discuss payment options. Visit our consultations page for more payment
information. We can also direct you to other community
breastfeeding resources should that be the best options for
your family.
